Horse And Me Poem by Demon Eastoe

Horse And Me

I am one with the horse,
The horse is one with me,
I know when he is feeling trapped,
And when he's wild and free.

I know that in the springtime,
The time of joy and fun,
When I ride him in the fields,
He doesn't stop, just runs.

He likes to smell the flowers,
He likes to eat the grass,
He likes to gallop through the woods,
Until the day is past.

And in the heat of summer,
He stands beneath a tree,
And when I come to ride him,
He runs away from me.

He doesn't like to run too far,
It's far too hot to do,
Instead he stops under a tree,
And waits for me to move.

And in the chilly autumn wind,
When leaves are gold and brown,
I like to keep him working hard,
Cant'ring across the downs

When all the hay's collected,
And grass is hard to find,
We focus on the winter,
And leave the sun behind.

In winter comes the freezing snow,
and it's the time of year,
When gifts are passed to all our friends,
And warmth is very dear.

I am one with the horse,
And he is one with me,
And when the year has cycled by,
We're as good as friends can be.
