Hosts Of Foreign Dreams Poem by Annie Ali

Hosts Of Foreign Dreams

A life un-lead
A wish undone
Got caught while leaving silently
From the hollow eyes
In their dream-prone genes
Climb the walls
Of Destiny s Ville
Bare feet paddling on copestones
Projected with sharp glass pieces
Protecting the faux value-system
From the radicals they are who
Share their vows with every sunset
And raise their hopes with every dawn
All they could see inside themselves
Flyers and hoardings of foreign dreams
Like a model with alien features
Not shown on faces around
Beauteous to a fantastic limit
Where Mythology meets market tactics
And philosophy bow to social statures
Where gods and goddesses are mingled
Carving reveries from foreign lands
Satiating local eyes forget to shut
For the pleasures of their simple dreams
Of homes and fruits and babies
A Marylyn facelift A Trump empire
A Muse like Miss Universe
Found on everyone's Isle
Desires unlimited in the sea of sharks
Roaming like small fish in circlles
Consuming behavior they wish to converse
Sharks eating small fish and sharks
Decaying foreign dreams into local graveyards
