How Red The Waves Poem by Linda Coker

How Red The Waves

Rating: 5.0

How red the waves that lap the shore
And stir the tumbled grains of sand
Where lifeless lay our gallant young
Whose shoulders national honor bore

Where fall the tears, Americans,
For every patriotic soul?
Such noble loss so you can be
Distracted by your hollow plans

Wake up, O Youth who live today
Without a thought of those before
Nor conscious of the future debt
For carelessly giving our country away

A fitting ode to those who have fought for our freedoms, and died for them, as well.-chuck
