Human's Word Poem by Elna Nel

Human's Word

now that you've come this way
and you've seen the land burning
how seasons of pain are changing
the course of people's protests

figures come to a standstill
since angels have held them
and let go like chaff in the
spread-light of injured winds

I need you hear me captain
down to the dark water-tow
of this slow war nobody will win
in street-right's spotlight and din

we are embarrassed witnesses
winding on the precipice of no
laws choosing to be unconscious
of the horrifying events of woe

I need you hear me as the right
to die naturally is stolen overnight
and need you to see us even if
for the sake of being seen alone

even if been seen and heard
will grant this perplexed country
the wish to express people's
need to survive human's word
