Hung Up Poem by shimon weinroth

Hung Up

I hang out a flag
for different reasons
not only for the dead
they're long gone
and couldn't care

for the memory,
of the blood they shed
to eulogize their deeds
I hang out a flag
for all to see

for the living
not for the dead,
it is the future I dread
that those who bled
not in vain, for something better
more humane
