Hunt You Down Poem by Robert Page

Hunt You Down

We were once friends.
Do you remember?
Telling ghostly tales,
Around the embers.

We were like soldiers,
Watching each other's backs.
We stopped our enemies,
Dead in their tracks.

But one rainy day,
You let me down.
You changed your targets.
You beat me down.

A hundred faces,
Laughed at my pain.
And so, my old friend,
Won't fight beside me again.

Put the memories,
To the back of my mind.
And now I'm ready,
I think you'll find.

No more happy times.
No more shared laughs.
No more holidays,
Playing in the park.

Because you hurt me,
Betrayed my trust.
You cannot be trusted.
I've had enough.

If you think you can hide,
Then you're dead wrong.
You cannot escape,
My spoken song.

I will hunt you down,
And destroy you.
