Hybrid Anna Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Hybrid Anna

Hybrid Anna

Imagine cat and dog having child in common
That has not happened but can happen in Russia.

Imagine Feodor, writer of fictions like "Idiot"
Not going to Gulag…
Imagine Japanese, Koreans being there all alone

For Russians, these two were look-alikes
Though they are enemies, and have been
Deep in the hearts of the books so remain.

The two opposing with hatred found the warmth
In his arm and her heart
Only when the two could get along
And so did
And married
And found some children.

What are they?
Japanese?
Koran?

Cat or dog?
I asked this of Anna.
"It was hell…"
She mentioned:
"Born and raised in Russia
Forcefully by parents on exile
We were called Koreans
Just because that was law
For ID and passport…"
