I Poem by Carol Fleming Klein

I

I
stand inside myself
Looking out upon the world
Wanting to join in
But afraid of the untried
I stay there; unsatisfied.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
One of my earliest poems. I had learned about the Haiku syllabic pattern, so I experimented with that. I think it should properly called Haiku Tanka. But I don't believe it is a true Haiku, for it's subject matter should be a subject in nature.
