I Am A Bright Star

My eyes are fixed on then sky
That is where I am
That is where I am destined to be
In the sky among the stars
In the sky in group we blink
In isolation we bright
We envy not any of us who bright in isolation
In the sky we give each other space
To bright or blink in harmony
On earth my eyes are fixed on the sky
I watched myself from the inside
My heart bright
My whole being gloom
In isolation I bright
It is not what other dim stars say or think
I am among the few bright stars on earth

The old year went, and the new returned, in the withering weeks of drought,
The cheque was spent that the shearer earned,
and the sheds were all cut out;
