I Am (A Sonnet.) Poem by J.A McManus

I Am (A Sonnet.)

Rating: 4.8

I am as sharp as a newly wrought blade
I am as ancient as the deep, cold caves
I am as dark as the night’s constant shade
I am as endless as the ocean’s waves
I am as lonely as the cold mountain
I am as hard as a giant oak tree
I am as soothing as the old fountain
I am as untamed as the fierce sea
I am as unyielding as solid steel
I am as mighty as a thunder storm
I am as graceful as a spinning wheel
I am as rousing as the summer’s dawn
I am not scared of the shadow of death
I am the giver of life’s precious breath.

Hi John - Nice sonnet with a consistent rhyming pattern - it does flow but not a consistent metre. Very good content - it scores a TEN. I like the adjectives you use - most of them have a good masculine ring. Sharp - ancient - dark - endless - lonely - soothing - untamed - unyielding - mighty - graceful? - rousing - not scared - giver. The verbs qualified by the adjectives are also very masculine. You have obviously given a lot of thought to this one - well done. Yours in poetry - JOHN.
