I Am A Tree Poem by Kimberly Wares

I Am A Tree

I am like a tree
Standing sturdy and strong
No matter how hard the wind blows
I can't be knocked down

Eventhough I don't bow
Under major pressure
The smallest things, like an ax
Completely throw off my measure

Little by little
It gets to me
Until it's so much
That I can't break free

I try so hard
To stay away from the ax
But it sneaks up on me
Then suddenly attacks

This is a statement
Known by all
The higher you stand
The harder you fall

So be like a feather
And not like a tree
So you don't come crashing
From little things

This is a fact
That everyone knows
Instead of falling
Feathers go with the flow

Yes they get taken
With harsh weather
But you can't take an ax
To a feather

See it's better to let the big things
Get to you
Than to let the little things
Completely ruin you

So be like a feather
And not like a tree
So you don't come crashing
From little things
