I Am A Youthful Old Man Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Am A Youthful Old Man

Rating: 5.0

I AM A YOUNTHFUL OLD MAN

I am a youthful old man
I still walk well
I have no great pain now
I may fail to find a name sometimes
But my mind generally goes along
As it always did

I am a youthful old man
But I do not fool myself
If I remain alive long enough
The ‘youthful’ will go
Somehow someway in not so long
I will not be what I am now-

I must try for as long as I can
To hold on where I am now -

I am tired now
And I suddenly realize the tiredness I have these days
Is greater and different from any I have had before

How many disasters I wonder
Are happening inside me now
Which I cannot feel now?

I am a youthful old man
Or so I tell myself

How long this will last
I do not know.
