I Am Death Poem by Trevor McLeod

I Am Death

I creep in shadows
In darkness unseen
Hiding in closets
In darkness under the bed

Children feel me
They fear me
As I crawl in the darkness
They know I am there
Waiting for the right time
To seize them from their bed
And drag them away
Screaming into my lair
Where none return

You pass me in the night
As I flit around the pools of light
I bide my time
Waiting patiently
For soon all will meet me
I am the ravager of time
The beast hidden in shadows
I come to claim your soul
For none shall escape me
You may delay me
But you will never stop me

I am death
I claim all beings
Animals and humans
All are the same to me
When you feel that cold breath
On the back of your neck
Best make your final prayer
Asking forgiveness for your deeds

I am death
I will take all
I will leave nothing
All will fall to me
There is nothing to stop me
