I am, I am
seeking with my tongue
my lips and fingers
- and you will say
you are not listening

but I am, I am
to a still slow heart
under soft smooth skin
- and you will say

what are you thinking of?
each layer of my mind
fights to exclude
all the others
- and you will say

shut up
