A push that’s always from behind, never from within comes
Passionless performance making life more and more cumbersome
Never was I, never will I be in such a desultory chase
I am not in the rat race

An insinuation made by the heart would I rather follow
Kin may become averse; my ways for them would be hard to swallow
A second time can I this life not purchase
I am not in the rat race

A standard set to follow, is for mentality of the herd
Iconoclasm’s the trend that I much preferred
I am not worried about losing out on pace
I am not in the rat race

A blessed mood whenever upon me dawns
Eternity I cherish in a moment, to the world I might appear forlorn
The essence of the ‘being’ gets trapped in the materialistic maze
I am not in the rat race
