I Am Not Quite Alone Poem by Judea Mae Espanola

I Am Not Quite Alone

My hand is yours as we walk by,
And my mind’s full of glee
Then between steps and all the while,
You vanished suddenly.

I looked behind, there’s nothing there,
But road, and graying stone
Then in a rather disconcerting air,
I realized I was alone.

But then I heard a quiet voice
From deep within my chest,
I stopped cause I don’t have a choice
and listened with my best.

“Don’t fret, and worry not, my dear
I’ll live inside your heart.
For all my days, I’ll just be here,
Will never let us be apart”

I strived to hear, but heard no more,
The voice of my beloved man,
But deep inside I know for sure,
He’s here forever in my heart.
