I Am Not Saying Poem by Francis Duggan

I Am Not Saying

I am not saying they are misguided i am not saying that they lie
Those who are convinced the soul lives on that the body only die,
I respect their opinions but with them i don't agree
Since i am one of those blokes who doubt what they can't see.

By your talk you condemn me to an afterlife of hell
Though of the existence of such a place none have come back to tell
Because of their fear of the unknown human beings god did create
Some see that as simplistic though many call it faith.

Many see god as all powerful and many see god as great
Yet love for god or so called love can lead to so much hate
Between the different religions who wage war in their god's name
And for the honour of their god commit crimes of great shame.

I am not saying that they are wrong how can they be if they feel so right
But they seem rather silly when about god they do fight
But it takes all kinds of people to make humanity
And with so much variation of opinion there's bound to be disharmony.
