I Am Sunshine



My name is sunshine
my father is the sun
he told me
he named me
after an unseen planet
and I still believe it
to this day
he taught me
how to shine
but I was always
a slow learner
I had to overcome
eclipses
to learn to love
my own rays
I had to overcome
the darkness
that dimmed
my bright blinding light!
