i am the last of my kind

i am the last of my kind
i wonder when i will die
i hear death coming for me
i see him coming
i want to live forever
i am the last of my kind

i pretend he is not coming
i feel his wrath
i touch the blade
i worry how long i have
i cry in my sleep
i am the last of my kind

i understand what i have to do
i say i am dead
i dream of my death
i try to stay awake
i hope to be immortal
i am the last of my kind

Poem of the Day

poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti

A little while a little love
The hour yet bears for thee and me
Who have not drawn the veil to see
If still our heaven be lit above.
Thou merely, at the day's last sigh,
