I Am You And You Are Me Poem by Tondana Fatimah Seebaway

I Am You And You Are Me

Your heart is in my chest
And mine is in yours
I feel your heartbeat
And you feel mine
Each time you lose your breath
I feel it right here
Cos I am you and you are me

You never give a call
Like you do not care at all
But I'm always in your thoughts
And in your prayers for that I'm sure
To ring you I will not cease
Hearing your sweet voice
And knowing that you're good
Reliefs me of my disease
Cos I am you and you are me

Anytime we argue you have won
Even though sometimes I think you're wrong
Our quarrels never last long
As we make up before the break of dawn
You never let me finish making my point
But I must always listen to yours
Cos I am you and you are me

You never remember my birthday
You've always missed the date
After you recall you send a message
And I appreciate them though always late
But I'll never fail to remember yours
And to compose for you a love song
For I am you and you are me

Sometimes I hate to be corrected
And we both know it's my weakness
I frown and raise my voice
And you never get offended
But I'll always take your advice
And try hard to reverse my vice
Cos I am you and you are me

I can really be a snail
To meet deadlines I usually fail
Sometimes I cause you disappointments
Compelling you to alternative plans
Yet you show me loads of patience
And help me in my accomplishments
For I am you and you are me

You are me and I am you
What we share is so true
I love you for what you are
And for what you are not
Cos I am you and you are me
