I Beg To Differ Poem by Mary Champion

I Beg To Differ

Dare tell his mother, that glib thought?
The treasure of her womb and heart,
she bore to see his youth cut short,
his tender body torn apart?

And in return, you offer her
vain glory that can never serve
to fill the void, nor disinter
her precious boy from such dark earth.
