take a step back
take a deep breath
look at the world
through the eyes of me
a teenage girl
what do you see
you should see a land of poverty
people struggling, surviving
fighting, denying
that the problems there
pretending they fixed it
like they really care
and they dare
make us look bad
do you know the things we had
to go through
just to get here
living in fear
we are just mere
children, do our voices you hear
we had no instruction manual
unprepared
unaware
of our surroundings
my head is pounding
hear us out
we no longer scream and pout
when we don't get what we want
come on
time to pass the baton
we're ready
the burden is heavy
i know
you fight it
but it still shows
like a cloud
over your head everywhere you go
share it with me

why cant you trust me
