I Can Promise Only This - Poem by Kelly Kurt

You can ask anything of me and I will attempt
You can tell me to smile, when grief is my shadow
You can stick me with pins and require my stillness
Take all my possessions and demand more
You can mandate the improbable and I will comply
But I can promise only this
To do my best

I love the sweet surrender in this beautifully penned poem. I also love the simplicity with which the poem is expressed. It is most appealing. The poet's words are wrapped in unconditional love for his beloved, and is a joy to read. One can only do their best and each person's best is personal and should be accepted as such. A very inspiring write, which I so enjoyed reading. Thank you for sharing and also for kindly commenting on my poem. Blessings... (Report) Reply

    To expect more
    Than a person can give
    Is to expect feathers
    From a turtle

    Never a good leader
    Would do that
    But exactly evaluate
    The capacity with reason

    The problem really
    Is not a persons’ ability
    Weather can or cant
    But the communication

    If the communication is done
    Whether can or cant
    Giving ample time
Everyone will be fine (Report) Reply

You list five challenges you are willing to take on to prove your assertion of your character, that is, you will always
make an effort. And those are challenging, life-transforming tasks, almost demanding Herculean strength a-n-d confidence. You may have given an enemy the opportunity to trick you into an impossible ordeal. But people of good intentions reading this will applaud your lack of vanity in affirming your honest presentation of S-E-L-F. (Just as a sign of my appreciation of your candor, I will admit - I'm not ready to issue a similar statement. Sic.) (Report) Reply

There is a certain amount of ego involved in my philosophy. I know (Most of) my limitations and always try to exceed them by 10% or more.: -) Failure isn't 'not an option' I quite regularly fail, but not without trying my best.
Thanks for another exquisite comment, Daniel.
