I Can't Poem by Bobby Pask

I Can't

I can't
Keep this going.
There won't be a triumphant
Crowning.

I need you
But know better.
You have to do
What will truly matter.

I won't take you
Away from them.
Won't make you start anew
With naught but a small gem.

You have a
Family.
Who am I to say
He isn't part of the tree?

Your child
Comes first.
If I come in, it may seem mild
But, it could end up the worst.

I want you
I need you.
But I can't do
What he can do.

It scares me
How much I care.
But you can see
So I can dare.

You are the one
I stay awake for.
I have to be gone
Before he comes in the door.

This fight
Is making me pant.
I have no might.
I just can't.
