I Can'T Breathe! Poem by Douglas Scotney

When every breath's in the same boat,
like it's learnt to be by dumb-asses,
if it isn't and is doin' business
that attracts dumb-asses,
or even if it ain't
and attracts them anyway,
it'd better be breathin' its prayers,
'cause dumb-asses is learnt
to beat a breath to an inch of its breath,
and that all breaths are the same,
and if there's a breath that ain't,
like I say,
it'd better be breathin' its prayers.
