I Care Not Poem by Francis Duggan

I Care Not

Rating: 4.8

I care not for wealth and I care not for fame
And I feel happy that not many know me by name
In the Town I live in an almost unknown
I feel grateful to know that my life is my own,
The ego no doubt is a very strange thing
It goes to our head when others our praises sing
I too have an ego that praise does inflate
I envy the humble the humble are great,
An ordinary man on an ordinary street
And a complete stranger to many I meet
But that's the way I like it my privacy I enjoy
Though I did dream of fame when I was a young boy
And I care not for wealth and I don't yearn for renown
I feel happy to be an ordinary man in an ordinary Town.
