I Cherish My Sun Poem by Sierra Staten

I Cherish My Sun

Rating: 5.0

Today my world forgot its depressing fog.
Today I was allowed to see the sun, the sun I've missed for so long.
Not the same sun, a new one.
A sun that's shines brighter.
A sun that, like a flower, helps me grow.
But you can't always have the sun.
My sun was ambushed by the clouds.
Not ordinary clouds -dark clouds.
I lost my sun in the clouds.
I searched for it, I searched for bright sun that filled me with joy,
The only joy I can rely on,
The joy that keeps me alive.
But it was gone.
Will I see it tomorrow? Unlikely.
But in the off chance I do,
I will cherish it.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was inspired to write this poem by a friend. He really enjoys writing poetry and it helped him. I wrote poetry in my past, but didn't pursue it as I was always teased for it. This poem, as you might already know, isn't about the actual sun. It's about the guy that inspired me. He inspired me so much with his poetry, to a whole new level of inspiration. Of course, I lost him later that night. I sat there, on the park bench, and wrote this.
