I Choose North Poem by Charity Nduhiu

I Choose North

Rating: 5.0

Do I choose South East West or North?
no South is near West has many bridges
East i am already there but I choose North
for it is far too far for bird messagers
so I choose North

North my dear North will you welcome the East?
but no doubt you seems welcoming i have never
been to the North it is so beautiful full of
flowing rivers and always ever green
beautiful beaches but wait a minute my dear North
will you betray me will you disclose this secret to
bird messagers? but I choose you my dear North

I choose North you seems so lovely so caring
so honest so sweet even in the midst of bitterness
will you keep the promise will you hurt the East

My dear East you are so dear to me you are my home
but you have hurt me so much you have lied to me
many times you have not kept any promise you have left
me alone many times you have totaly torn my heart
I dont hate you, you will still be my dear home, but
as for me I choose North

Choosing north is meaningful. East is Asia and Africa, West is Europe and America, South is Australia but North is Asia and Europe both. It had the distinction of having USSR, the pioneers of a communist society. After cold war USSR has been disintegrated. So what the poet actually means? The poet knows better, I keep myself confined to the weather and climate of north. As far civilizations are concerned it rose from Central Asia, so the only thing that remains is the climate of north that makes the men healthy and active to work hard and to develop their nation.
