What do you expect to find on the top of the mountain? When Hermann Buhl had reached the top of Himalayas, he felt no rejoice, nor other intensive excitement of fulfilment, although he was the first man, reached the top of Himalayas. He was suffering strong pangs, cut off from his expedition mates, he was warned by his leaders of the expedition not to climb and strictly warned to go back to the camp. But he didnt heed the warning and climbed further, alone. No one supported him. He was plagued by great thirst, strong pain of throat, sleeplesness, he often had no space even to lie or sit down, when was longing to rest. He had no one to talk to, although yearn that very much. There was no one to talk to and no one to meet him on the highest top of the mountain... What do you expect to find on the top of the mountain, if you abjure low land and would dwell on the mountain? Great poem! I enjoy how this can be applied to overcoming obstacles in life.In order to make our own fates we must climb our own mountains. It is so easy to give into baser wants and fall into what is easy, BUT to reach our untapped potential it is important to strive for the top. (Report) Reply

Some opt for the easy life and they pass an average life. They remain merged in the common crowd and very few know them. Those who are fond of adventures conquer the difficult heights and their names shine on the sky as stars. It's a great poem. (Report) Reply
