I Cry Mostly In The Shower Poem by Hebert Logerie

I Cry Mostly In The Shower

(Congratulations to Farrell and my daughter, Betsy)

I cried in the shower
When you were born
I cried in the shower
Twenty five years ago
When you got burned
Climbing to reach the hot pot on the stove
You were admitted to the hospital
Surprisingly the morning after, you were as happy as a dove
You were born strong; you’re my kind of girl
In Hillside School, in secondary school
You carried your backpack like you were cool
I can see that picture
Now, which was in the school newspaper
You’re friendly, kind, smart and yet very funny
You never cut classes, you were always happy
To go to school even when you had a fever
Your mother and I are proud of you for being so clever
In High School, you made the Honor roll
Several times; let the bells toll
Sometimes, it is wonderful to cry in the shower
When the heart is facing the mirror
I was astonished when I saw you singing
With perfection countless hit songs of Luther Van Drauss
Wow, you’ve grown so fast
I can still remember your first spring
I cried often in the shower
I thank God for such a wonderful daughter
I can make you smile now
I bet you, you don’t know how?
I am calling you daddy’s girl
You don’t like that anymore
May God let the happy birds swirl
Like beautiful rainbows in heaven
You graduated High School with Honor
That was the start of a new season
I cried tears of joy in the shower
Four years of college have passed by like a flash
I saw you singing, dancing and directing a choir
At Seton Hall University
That was cool, entertaining, très joli
That was stupendous, that was a smash
I could not believe my eyes
I almost cried in the shower
Daddy can tell no lies
You graduated again with Honor
Then a couple of years later
You earned a Master’s degree
In Speech Therapy
You now have a license
Thank you for being different
Thank you for being resilient
Thank you for using common sense
You’re my kind of girl, your mother and I are very proud
Of you, I am not a crier, I am a teaser
Ok, crowd; it’s ok, all right to be loud
Tonight, Farrell and Betsy just got married
Please pray for them, spring has hurried
To be present, the stars are sparkling in the sky
The wind is sprinkling the petals of Love
Mother Nature and the God above
Are happy for this new couple
This is spring, a new era, a glorious beginning
This wedding is garnished with beautiful people
I cried tears of good wishes and happiness
For two happy doves who have left the nests
Occasionally, we all cry in the shower
Please do not stop praying for them
Please applaud to bless them.
