I Dream Poem by Israh Sadan

I Dream

Frozen with fright
Curled up in a ball
On the edge of the bed
Wound tight as a spring
Images of starving
Ethiopian children
come to mind
For that's how I feel
Emaciated
In desperate need of
Tenderness.
I dream of a man with
an overwhelming urge to protect me
Who sees me for the fragile creature I am
I dream of a man who could love me.
