I Dreamed A Dream Poem by Michael P. Johnson

I Dreamed A Dream

I DREAMED A DREAM
I dreamed a dream of deep despair
Of anguish hell and death
What disobedience has to share?
Beyond our final breath

I dreamed the devil reigns today
That death still wears a crown
That doubt still leads the blind astray
And pulls life’s Kingdom down

I saw the pit of endless flame
Suffering souls galore
I saw them crying Jesus’ name
To open Heaven’s door

I saw both sides of Paradise
I saw when people die
I saw the tears in Jesus’ eyes
And heard His woeful sigh

Yet then I heard the voice above
“Go forth my child and tell
Reveal The Truth of perfect love
And save my sheep from hell

Shine forth in love your Saviour’s Light
Let all my children hear
Make known the gospel day and night
And comfort those who fear

Go north go south go east and west
On mountain top and dale
Invite the lost into my rest
Through He who cannot fail

Did Christ not die to set them free?
Did I not call your name?
Wake up! Now help your neighbours see
The destiny of shame
