I Fight Poem by Katinka Havermans

Feeling empty
Desolate and lost
It sounds a bit heavy
For how I feel
inside
Got to keep my courage up
There will soon be light
At the end of the tunnel,
only how long
That tunnel is, no one knows

Got to be strong again
Not just for myself
For the other as well
It is perhaps somewhat sad
The way I look at you
See how I laugh
My eyes laugh not
It'll be fine
But when I do not know

I was sad more often
Discouraged also perhaps
And in these tough times
I experience everything quickly
As too much, and even too many
Throw it on top of the heap
There is apparently still more
where that came from
I straighten my back and sigh deeply
Time to fight back
