I Gave Myself Freedom From Boredom Poem by Ahmad Shiddiqi

I Gave Myself Freedom From Boredom

Rating: 5.0

I gave myself freedom from boredom
From the leaves in the garden
To old toys in the garage
I had always been in one touch
But I suppose that in the end
Work without love is slavery

People who studied have trouble
Thinking outside of the box
A good or a bad thing
Self-taught people always
Think outside of the box
They are more creative
Because they don't have
A ready made answer
To their problem
So they need to do
Some thinking first

Since everyone was a little bit grand
In one way or another
Anybody who acted grand
Got the strawberry

I tell you something
Never change what you are good at
Repetition is reputation
So this is what I do
I am obsessed by some themes
Life, death, love, war, peace, nature, human, religion

I think it is important
To enjoy your art
For what it is
Rather than what it is worth
And to change these pieces occasionally
Is essential

For my inspiration
I always wished
That I would pass
The Walt Whitman Grave Memorial
The Frederick Chopin Statue
The Pablo Picasso's Studio
You absolutely can't be indifferent
To special charm of them
And like Ralph Waldo Emerson said
I had to rub my eyes
To see if the sunbeam was no illusion

Self-pride is one of the most
Important elements in life
So I want to offer an achievement
Something that people can be proud of
Something that they can naturally
Create a story around
Spread love and justice
It's nice to feel unique
In a good way

I too think it is important to enjoy your art for what it is. Thank you for putting that so simply and clearly. Not so sure about changing it.

Work without love is slavery these words bring to mind what the lebanese poet Kahlil Gibran said about work, saying if you whhere unable to work with love it would be wiser to live of charity, cause if a baker bakes a bread hating what he does his hatred will poison the bread. Andsoon. Stating that the intention and the energy you put into something matters cause it will be noticed and felt. May angels continue to inspire you Boomwhisperer Ruerd
