I Have Been A Lucky Man Poem by Francis Duggan

I Have Been A Lucky Man

Rating: 5.0

I've lived for three years with sixty in time a lengthy span
And I have never known it tough I have been a lucky man
And if I should die tomorrow a few who know of me might say
He did live to be a good age and he had known a better day
And whether I am buried or cremated does it matter either way
In Mother Nature's bosom what is left of me will lay
And Nature I have dearly loved since I was a young boy
And walks in her quiet places is a thing I do enjoy
Nature's birds will sing on bush and tree long after I am gone
And the ocean tides will flood the beach and life it will go on
And Nature will look beautiful in her wildflowers of the Spring
And the artist will try to capture her beauty on canvas and the poet her praises sing
And whether I will be buried or my remains to ashes someone will burn
I will be gone forever to the place of no return.
