I Have Lost The Double-Sound Of Inner Implication Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Have Lost The Double-Sound Of Inner Implication

I HAVE LOST THE DOUBLE -SOUND OF INNER IMPLICATION

I have lost the double sound of inner implication
The music of my own lyric song
The outpouring from within of words
Meaning more than I myself
can understand.

I have lost the poetry
I sometimes have within-
And now in this sheer linear plain prosaic line
I tell my trouble
To the page.

And why oh why should anyone care?
And who am I
Bothering endlessly unnamed and unknown readers
With my own feelings
I long to be loved and praised for?
