I Hear The Beat Poem by Anne Jones

I Hear The Beat

I hear the beat the rata tat tat
I hear the rhythm and the rhyme
The soothing voice of words being sung
The music talks to me and tells a story to which i can relate
Sad songs, love songs, regret and inspiration
Close your eys and listen to what the sounds, beats and voices have to say
Thump thump bang bang drum drum drum
Fast and furious
The loud beat makes me energized yet causious
Makes me want to get up and move and never stop
I want to release the anger stomp my feet to that strong bang on the drums
Throw my fists out in front of myself and release my inner demons
I want to feel the beat and say goodbye forever tyo the things that have been trapped inside

As the music changes I hear that sadness in the piano playing fingers
The tone of the voice is calming and draws me in
Release the sadness that lives inside
Allow yourself to feel it
The chorus plays over and over allowing me to feel
I feel sadness, alone and grief

I listen to the works being sung
If only I could believe
The beat brings me inspiration and makes me want to run free in a field of bright colored flowers
Blue sky about me with white puffy clouds waiting to be laid upon
I jump for joy feeling happy
Hearing the words 'your amazing just the way you are' makes me want to soar to new heights

The quick tempo and mysterious sounds of the violin leaves me asking questions
My mind races wanting answers and wanting them now
The electric guitar tells me to run but the drum beats and brings me back to reality
The constant reminder that you can't change what has already happened so just accept it and move on

The clapping and steady beat shares excitement with me
My body wants to jump up and bee bop around the room dancing and moving freely around the room
Laughing and singing and having fun is good for the soul
Remember the good times and always find time to smile and laugh through the day
Turn on some music and you will be surprised what you can learn about yourself
