I Keep Trying To Grow Poem by Manonton Dalan

I Keep Trying To Grow

hair growing over my ears
curling outwards; cocoon
almost reaching my shoulder
spreading octopus-like arms
parasite to my thin body
warmth for gentle winter

spring is around corner
i haven't seen snow yet
besides severe cold 20's
pain on my toes; fingers
dried lips; teary eyes
no flakes landed on ground

fear of insects invasion
due to long warm weather
birds will be happy, food
soil suppose to recover
so as lakes, springs, rivers
they're like me almost worn
