I know, but I love you

I know you’re gone
she took you away
how can I go on
and keep my love at bay?

I know you’re not mine
but can’t I dream
my own ray of sunshine
will you be my sunbeam?

I know I’m not allowed
to love and care about you
you’re surrounded by a misty cloud
what else can I do?

I know we’re just friends
but I can’t help but wonder
when we’ll come around the bend
I won’t ever surrender

I know you might not care
in that way I mean
but please don't scare
me away I’ll scream
