I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings
Maya Angelou

Beautifuly written. Good job maya.
Of things unknown but longed for still... A line I know well. I feel this poem in my soul. More profound than simple words. It's a feeling. Freedom is a beautiful thought but so few of us have ever felt what it is to truly be free. Our wings are clipped, but still we sing. Sing because the most beautiful songs come from longing and pain. And the most beautiful voices are the ones that ring through the dark.
Amazing poem.
How i've felt most of my life, connected to this poem, lovely write
a beautiful poem that i absolutely love
This poem ought to be dedicated to Paul Laurence Dunbar, who died in 1904. He wrote a poem entitled Sympathy, which has an incredible resemblance to this poem I know why the caged bird sings. Unfotunately, Brother Dunbar did not entitle his poem correctly. Readers, please read Dunbar's famous poem Sympathy, you will be enlightened; you will see exactly what I mean. On the other hand, Maya is very visual; she is a good writer; she knows how to catch her readers's attention. Maya is an incredible sniper, she always hits the core of the heart. I feel that I had to give credit, where credit is due. I enjoy reading both poems and I love both poems: my brother and my sister. Hebert Logerie
... not like anyone would really get this poem; you all search for who its author is
There is such beauty in poetry...and inspiration too
You certainly know how to write a story into a poem, it gives a picture of what you are seeing well done
beautiful poem! loved it!
Great true words of wisdom from a true great of her craft. It makes me appreciate freedom and other things we so often consider simple and inconsequential.
