I Lived Before There Were Poems

I LIVED BEFORE THERE WERE POEMS

I lived before there were poems
And maybe I'll live afterwards
But it won't be the same life
The poems have given
And give me much
Happiness also
And Meaning
I love the poems
The making and being with them
I'll try to have them still
But I am not certain
The road has been long
And I am old and tired
I do not know how long
I can have them.
