I'll Keep Watch Poem by Lora Colon

I'll Keep Watch

Sleep, my loved one, my arms will not tire
Of holding you, so let your dreams stray;
I'll keep watch until dawn's ring of fire
Burns the tapestry of night away

Let your fancies wander with moonbeams,
They're but truants from celestial spheres;
I'll keep watch, should you wake from your dreams,
And a grim reality appears

Walk the pebbled shores and valleys green
'Til you find your kingdom by the sea;
I'll keep watch, and should you need a queen,
Think of me, love, O please, think of me

Sleep while the stars twinkle above you,
The golden sun has already set;
I'll keep watch, whispering I love you,
Followed by a kiss, lest you forget

Where do you go in your errant dreams -
Riding cloud-drifts through love's pageantry?
While I keep watch next to sorrow's streams
Until the dawn brings you back to me

But I'll show you, love, when you arise,
Heaven can be found right here on Earth;
I'll keep watch 'til you open your eyes -
And together we'll witness love's birth!
