I Love My Mother-In-Law Poem by Edgar Andrade Baguio

I Love My Mother-In-Law

Her haughty smiles were not that many though
When I asked from her a crucial favor
Taking her most loved maiden and savor
As my companion in this world of dough

We tried to negotiate a little more
Yet her firm disapproval was so real
In silence then we moved along the shore
Uniting our lives by an endless seal

Time was kind then as it healed wounds at dawns
With a Balm of Gilead that soothed its sway
Now with her maiden’s new leaf on its way
Curving her lips with convex lines but yawns

That was good for all to see and to know
But seasons had past without her grown life
In our young home where love’s supposed to flow
She loves to visit with few goods and strife

We consulted a book to check this flaw
Hoping to see things back to harmony
It reads like a plea: Love your enemy
Ah! that’s why I love my mother-in-law
