I Love These Quiet Gum Woods Poem by Francis Duggan

I Love These Quiet Gum Woods

Rating: 5.0

It seems that there is not much life around
And the yellow robin's voice the only sound
But now crimson rosella's voice I hear
He bells on high gum somewhere very near.

I love these quiet gum woods in the Fall
The peace and quiet where only few birds call
This time of year they live in harmony
And no need for them to defend territory.

The mountain ash reach upwards towards the sky
Some eighty metres trusting to the eye
Even the teenage mountain ash stand tall
These forest giants make other trees seem small.

The nearest house may not seem far away
But no logging here so legislators say
These mountain ash to loggers saws won't fall
Though wind may claim some when they grow too tall.

Through forest gums a shaft of Autumn light
And all is tranquil all is calm and quiet
And I feel peace it gently comes to me
Here in the World of World's tallest tree.

I love these quiet gum woods in the Fall
Where peace reside and only few birds call
When most creatures seem to live in harmony
And feel no need to defend territory.
