I Loved You First
I'm in love
Not because you are
But because I was.
Behind my eyes were
Eyes for loving you;
I search when I wouldn't stare.
And in my stares,
There were dreams.
I continuously love you when I'm silent;
And then your absence when I speak.
And there was love before we speak of it.
There was love before you even knew;
I loved you first.
Not because of whom you are-
But because I love you.
