I’m Afraid To Die Poem by Melvina Germain

I’m Afraid To Die

Rating: 5.0

Chorus
Oh Lord, I’m afraid to die
Please take me now to the promised Land
Loooord, I’m afraid to die
Please walk with me, take me by the hand

I lived my life in sin
Yes Lord I refused to let Jesus in
Now I see the light
Lord the stars are shining bright
While I lay here on this death- bed
Wishing you were by my side
I ask you Lord, take my hand
Lord won’t you be my guide

Chorus
Oh Lord, I’m afraid to die,
Please take me now, to the promised land.
Looood, I’m afraid to die,
Please walk with me, take me by the hand.

I lay here at your mercy
Hope the love in my heart you’ll see
I’m weak and I’m weary
Lord please won’t you carry me.
I’m humble Lord,
I lost all my earthly dignity
Oh Lord, look inside my heart
You will see, a change in me.

Chorus
Oh Lord, I’m afraid to die
Please take me now to the promised Land
Loooord, I’m afraid to die,
Please walk with me, take me by the hand.

Note:
Please realize this song is not about me, for
I'am not afraid to die, but I know many that
are afraid to die, are you afraid to die?

Melvina that was just beautiful...you really need to find someone to work at getting them into the right hands....I wish I knew someone for you...Because you do have a talent for spiritual song writing

No matter how strong your Faith bE(I.M.O.) , it is norm to have some degree of concern, or fear of the unknown...And i think that is alright so long as it does not become a lifelong obsession that inevitably disrupts your goals, and objectives, in Life. And to bear in mind, that our next stop is supposed to be the best yet to come! Great hymn...great poem...great work, young lady! FjR

Why be afraid to die, death is just a part of life, we are all born and all most die, some sooner and some later, we all get our time and then most move on to a happier place...10

YES, I am 'scared to death' to die, yet oddly enough, more often then not, I wish it would happen soon, without me knowing it of course. I don't want to be under the ground with the bugs [and I know I'll be dead and won't feel them] just rotting away, nor does the thought of burning thrill me, and yes I know I won't feel that. If I had my way I'd be left on a beautiful island, of the many that are just that, islands in the sea...That's where I'd like to be if I must die....Now, though fearful of it, I am not afraid of what will greet me after, for then I know I will be at peace. Melvina, thank you for this poem.~~~~~~~~marci.xo. :)

Mel when I read the first verse and old Hank Williams gospel number popped into my head. His most famous one called I See The Light. This is a beautiful gospel number. Then a Canadian singer songwriter popped into my head, Ian Tyson whose voice would suit this lovely work. Top Marks and thanks for sharing it my friend. David

flowing beautiful verse, Melvina, that allows a moment to think about the inevitable, for which we all have at least some trepidation. great read. -Tailor
