I'M Sorry Poem by victoria martinez

I'M Sorry

White walls covered in bloody ink
He took his life reporters said he was weak
I remember all those times when we would talk
I never realized he was so lost
He would stare out the window
Asked me if I knew what the point was
I couldn’t answer
-silence-
He would chuckle saying there was no purpose to life
But, now I stand here and I can’t believe my eyes
His hands lay stripped of their flesh
His eyes cool blue dried with the time the lids haven’t closed to moisten them
His mouth dried at the crease where his lips meet
And his body limp without breath
I laid my head on his warm silent chest
I suppose he knew what was best
I cried into his bloody shirt and said suicide is selfish
But, his dead body lay motionless
White walls covered in bloody ink
The words he left me where
I’m sorry.
