I Made A Rose Poem by Diipo Fagbolu

I Made A Rose

Far away from home
I took a stance on stone
A chip from Lokongoma hills
Cold yet from night chills
I made myself a rose

And swallowed it as pill
For the ill at heart I feel
The winding road took a day
Back to warmth, home, I lay
And forgot the rose I made

Sunlight and fragrances sweet
Stirred my eyes from night’s sleep
Awake, I found my little room
Veneered in full roses bloom
The rose I made grew

From the green walls
Ceiling, door and stone floor
In hues of exotic reds and roseate
Roses climbed unto my heart
And gave me a rosy smile.
