I Miss You

Cuts so deep they could house my tears
That time I loved you seems so long ago
Yet I still feel empty when I see your name

It's like an instant reflex my body has
To shut down and sleep in sadness
I wish you'd remember me

We all love, love
And the pain that comes with it
A sick kind of joke
To love and be hurt of it

I miss you
And your simplicity
The way you looked at me
Ensured of yourself

I was ensured of me
When I loved you closely
And now I love from a distance
Quietly in my mind, I am in love with you

Poet's Notes about The Poem

I once fell in love with my best friend. Unfortunately, it didn't head in the direction I wished it had.

The heart can't help but choose who it yearns for...sadly we set aside logic and often fall short. We have all known the misguided direction of loving one that becomes unobtainable. PEACE (Report) Reply

Brilliantly written poem, I love the simplicity of it and the soft words used.
You painted a bright picture of the love you have for this particular somebody.
Great work, keep it up and maybe it wasn't meant to be, please let go and live again. We all have such skeletons in our closets, its always best to lock the closet and throw the key into the sea.
