I Put A Rose In Her Hand - Poem by Jeff Gangwer

I put a rose in her hand—
A Crimson Blush—

One of Nature's many ironies,
Severed for a gift—

Its long stem of disagreeable thorns—
Its head of twirling, regal petals—

Symbols of our exquisite love—
Anything and everything—

But just enough for my Queen—
For today, on the Fourteenth of February
